A Panorama Over the Neva

This single camera captures a commanding rooftop view across the broad Neva River, the great waterway that shapes the entire city. From this vantage the eye follows the current past granite embankments toward a horizon crowded with domes, spires and classical facades.

The Palace Bridge & Its Neighbours

At the centre of the scene the Palace Bridge links the historic core to Vasilyevsky Island, joined along the river by a chain of bascule bridges famous for rising to let ships through. Their steel spans frame the flowing water and the vessels that traffic it.

River Traffic & City Skyline

Excursion boats, water taxis and larger passenger ships weave along the channel below, a constant reminder that the river remains a living artery. Behind them rise the palaces, cathedrals and rooftops of one of Europe's grandest imperial capitals.
