Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Coastal Bird Sanctuary
Getterön is a low-lying peninsula jutting into the Kattegat just outside Varberg, on Sweden's southwestern coast. Its mosaic of tidal mudflats, brackish lagoons and grazed meadows forms one of the country's most important wetland habitats, protected as a nature reserve.
Naturum Visitor Centre
The reserve is home to a Naturum — part of Sweden's network of official nature information centres — offering exhibits, hides and marked trails that let visitors observe the surrounding wetlands without disturbing the wildlife.
Birdlife Through the Seasons
Waders, geese, ducks and terns pass through Getterön in large numbers during spring and autumn migration, while breeding species and wintering flocks keep the reserve active year-round, drawing birdwatchers from across the region.
Halland's Coastal Landscape
Beyond its ornithological value, Getterön showcases the gentle, wind-shaped scenery typical of Halland's coastline — reed beds, sandy shorelines and wide horizons over the open sea.
