The Heart of Zlín

Náměstí Míru, the Square of Peace, is the principal public space of Zlín and the natural meeting point of its citizens. The broad pedestrian plaza is paved in geometric red brick and centred on a single spreading tree that gives shade to benches and passers-by.

Architecture Around the Square

The plaza is enclosed by a mix of civic and commercial buildings, including the town hall with its steep roof and turret, arcaded ground-floor shops and colourful façades that reflect Zlín's functionalist heritage shaped by the Baťa shoe empire.

A Living Public Space

Framed by pavement cafés and lines of neat street furniture, the square hosts markets, gatherings and the everyday flow of a busy Moravian town, offering a genuine window onto local life in the regional capital.
