Náměstí Míru, Kroměříž

A Landmark Square Turned Roundabout

Náměstí Míru — Peace Square — sits at the center of Kroměříž, a UNESCO-listed town in the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic. What began as a formal square now functions as a busy traffic roundabout, its central island planted with ornamental shrubs and framed by neatly trimmed hedges.

Historic and Modern Architecture Side by Side

A grand nineteenth-century building with ornate stonework anchors one corner of the square, while contemporary apartment blocks rise along the opposite side. The contrast captures Kroměříž's layered history, from its baroque core to its postwar expansion.

A Busy Municipal Junction

Cars, vans and pedestrians continually weave through the roundabout, making this one of the town's key traffic arteries. Wide crosswalks and generous sidewalks keep foot traffic flowing safely alongside the vehicle lanes.
