An Iconic Volcanic Panorama
This camera frames Mount Fuji, Japan's highest peak and its most revered stratovolcano, standing 3,776 metres above the surrounding plateau. The near-perfect conical silhouette, formed by centuries of layered eruptions, dominates the horizon and gives the mountain its singular, instantly recognisable profile.
Lake Kawaguchi and Fujikawaguchiko
In the foreground stretches Lake Kawaguchi, the most accessible of the Fuji Five Lakes, ringed by the resort town of Fujikawaguchiko. A broad band of forest separates the lakeside streets from the volcano's lower flanks, where the dark evergreen expanse of the Aokigahara woodland blankets the old lava fields.
The Panoramic Ropeway Viewpoint
The vantage point is the observation deck of the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway (formerly the Kachi Kachi Ropeway), which climbs Mount Tenjo on the lake's southern shore. From this elevated terrace, visitors gain one of the region's most celebrated unobstructed views of the mountain mirrored across the water.
A Region of Pilgrimage and Tourism
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mount Fuji has inspired Japanese art and pilgrimage for centuries. The Yamanashi highlands around it draw countless travellers to its lakes, shrines and hot springs, making this one of the country's most enduring scenic destinations.
