The Dunas de Loredo form part of a designated natural area where wind-sculpted sand ridges meet the open Atlantic. Marram grass and low scrub stabilize the dune system, creating a rare buffer of wild coastline between the villages of Loredo and Somo.

A Magnet for Surf and Sport

Long, consistent swells roll in from the Bay of Biscay, making this beach one of Cantabria's most popular surfing grounds. Surf schools, longboarders, and stand-up paddlers share the wide sandbar with kite flyers and beach volleyball games.

Gateway to the Bay of Santander

A tidal channel cuts through the dunes here, linking the open sea to the sheltered Bay of Santander. Small boats and kayakers use the inlet at high tide, while the regional capital's skyline traces the far shore across the water.

A Cornerstone of the Cantabrian Coast

Together with neighboring Somo, this beach forms one continuous four-kilometer arc of sand — among the longest and most celebrated stretches of coastline in northern Spain.
