About This Webcam
Everything you need to know about this live stream
The Mighty Lena River
This camera frames one of the great rivers of Siberia: the Lena, which flows more than four thousand kilometres north to the Arctic Ocean. From the elevated embankment at Lensk the lens captures the river's full breadth, its surface mirroring the taiga-clad hills on the far bank.
The Riverside City of Lensk
Lensk is a river port in the Sakha Republic, a vital transhipment point where goods move along the Lena toward the diamond fields of western Yakutia. The paved promenade and protective railings in the foreground form part of the town's flood-defence embankment, a constant reminder of the river's seasonal power.
Wild Eastern Siberia
Beyond the water stretch endless boreal forests of larch and pine, the boreal taiga that blankets much of the region. This is one of the most remote and sparsely populated corners of Russia, where the river is both highway and lifeline.
A Living Weather Window
The overlaid telemetry panel reports temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure straight from the riverbank, letting viewers feel the continental extremes of a place that swings between fierce heat and profound cold across the year.
