La Perroche faces the calm waters of the Pertuis de Maumusson on the western flank of the Île d'Oléron. The fine, pale sand and shallow, shelving seabed make this a favourite family beach, with the dune ridge offering a natural windbreak above the strand.

Behind the beach stretch protected dunes and maritime pine forest, part of the island's preserved coastal landscape. Nearby salt marshes and wetlands shelter migratory birds, and a network of footpaths and cycle tracks threads through the pines and marais.

Island Life on Oléron

The cam sits within the commune of Dolus-d'Oléron, in the Charente-Maritime department. The island is renowned for its oyster beds, its lighthouses such as the Phare de Chassiron, and a slow, maritime rhythm of markets, ferries and seafood.
