The Bay of La Baule
This camera frames the great arc of the Baie de La Baule, a five-kilometre sweep of fine sand that ranks among the most celebrated bays on France's Atlantic coast. From Pornichet at its eastern end, the shoreline curves westward past La Baule-Escoublac toward Le Pouliguen.
Pornichet Seafront
In the foreground runs the Boulevard des Océanides, the palm-lined promenade that traces the dune front. Elegant villas and seaside apartments line the avenue, a legacy of the resort's Belle Époque heyday as a fashionable bathing town.
A Classic Atlantic Resort
La Baule's gently shelving beach and sheltered waters have drawn visitors for well over a century. The bay is a hub for sailing, sand-yachting and bathing, with the broad strand offering room for long walks at the water's edge.
Watching the Tides
The vast tidal range exposes a shimmering expanse of wet sand at low water, while the rising tide brings the Atlantic back toward the promenade. The view captures the rhythm of the sea against the long horizon of the open bay.
