This camera overlooks the central boat basin of John Wayne Marina, the principal recreational harbor on Sequim Bay. Dozens of masted sailboats and motor cruisers line the floating finger docks, giving a constant sense of the marina's role as a hub for boating on the Olympic Peninsula.

A Sheltered Pacific Northwest Harbor

A long rock breakwater wraps the basin, holding back the open tidal waters of Sequim Bay and keeping the moored fleet calm. Small workboats and dinghies move between the docks, while the forested slopes of the surrounding hills frame the scene.

Land and Water of Sequim

Set on the northern coast of the Olympic Peninsula, the marina sits within the famous rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains that makes Sequim one of the driest spots in western Washington. The view captures the meeting of sheltered saltwater, evergreen forest and a busy working harbor.
