A Legendary Rail Junction
The Iron Triangle is where two of America's great railroads โ the Norfolk Southern (former Nickel Plate main line) and CSX (former Baltimore & Ohio and Chesapeake & Ohio Toledo Line) โ cross paths in the heart of Fostoria, Ohio. The intersecting diamonds have made this modest city a household name among rail enthusiasts worldwide.
Constant Freight Action
More than 80 freight trains pass through the junction on a typical day, from long intermodal double-stacks to manifest and coal trains. The pan-tilt-zoom camera sweeps across the triangle, following the action as trains from both railroads negotiate the crossing.
A Community-Built Railpark
The viewing point sits within the Fostoria Iron Triangle Railpark, developed by the Fostoria Rail Preservation Society with support from the City of Fostoria. What began as a grassroots effort by local rail fans has grown into a dedicated destination for train watching.
A Gateway to America's Rail Network
Beyond the tracks, the surrounding streets and grain elevators reflect the everyday rhythm of a small Ohio railroad town whose fortunes have long been tied to the rails running through its center.
