Inside St. Matthew's Basilica, Mielec

A Baroque Catholic Sanctuary

The Basilica of St. Matthew the Apostle and Evangelist is one of the oldest and most important churches in Mielec. Elevated to the rank of a minor basilica, it serves as a spiritual landmark for the surrounding Subcarpathian region and draws pilgrims and visitors from across the area.

The High Altar & Sacred Art

The camera centers on the gilded high altar, crowned by a radiant golden glory and flanked by gilded statues of saints. A large painting of the Crucifixion dominates the apse, while the side walls display devotional paintings set in ornate frames.

Architecture & Interior

Beneath a vaulted ceiling decorated with frescoes, the nave is lined with finely carved wooden choir stalls and a patterned marble floor. The harmonious blend of Baroque ornamentation and classical proportion gives the interior its distinctive grandeur.
