Groede Beach and Westerschelde Mouth
OnlineThis strandcam looks out over the beach at Groede, a broad stretch of sand on the coast of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, with a sculptural sail-canopy shelter in the foreground. Beyond the shoreline open the waters of the Westerschelde mouth, with the coast of Walcheren and the busy shipping lane to Antwerp on the horizon.
The camera is run by Strandcamping Groede, a family campsite just behind the dunes.
About This Webcam
Everything you need to know about this live stream
A beach on the Westerschelde mouth
The camera faces the Groede beach, part of the long, sandy coastline of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen between Cadzand and Breskens. Here the sea meets the mouth of the Westerschelde, and on a clear day the far shore of Walcheren, with Vlissingen and Zoutelande, can be traced across the water.
A sail-canopy shelter on the sand
In the foreground stands a tensile shade structure: white sail canopies stretched between slender masts over a ring of benches, a striking landmark for anyone arriving on the beach from the dune crossing at the Zeeweg.
Ships bound for Antwerp
The channel off this coast is one of the busiest approaches in Europe: container ships, tankers and pilot boats sail along the Wielingen towards Vlissingen and the port of Antwerp, so the horizon is rarely empty.
Strandcamping Groede and the polders
The stream comes from Strandcamping Groede, a family campsite set right behind the dunes and surrounded by the quiet Groese polders, known for one of the cleanest beaches on the Dutch coast.
