The Great Northern Tunnel
Completed in 1905 by the Great Northern Railway, this historic tunnel curves for nearly a mile beneath the heart of downtown Seattle. Its arched South Portal, framed by a weathered concrete retaining wall, remains a vital link on BNSF's Scenic Subdivision more than a century later.
A busy railroad crossroads
The cameras overlook one of the Pacific Northwest's most active stretches of track. Amtrak Cascades, the Coast Starlight, the Empire Builder and Sounder commuter trains all pass within view, making each shift a fresh chance to spot a different consist.
