OnlineThis panoramic webcam looks out over the northern flank of Mount Etna from Piano Provenzana, where dark solidified lava flows and ancient basalt fields sweep up toward the summit ridge. A Window onto Mount Etna's Northern Slopes
Perched at the Capannetta outpost above Piano Provenzana, this camera frames the rugged terrain of Etna's north side, where successive eruptions have layered black lava fields over the mountain. The contrast between the charred volcanic ground and the surviving greenery captures the raw character of an active volcano.
Piano Provenzana, the Gateway to Etna Nord
Piano Provenzana sits in the comune of Linguaglossa and serves as the main hub for the volcano's northern approach. A base for hiking, mountain excursions and winter sports, it gives visitors a striking vantage point over the upper reaches of the massif.
A Living Volcanic Landscape
Towering at roughly 3,300 metres, Mount Etna is the tallest active volcano in continental Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The slopes seen here are reshaped continually by lava flows and ashfall, making every panorama a record of ongoing geological change.
What You Can See
The view takes in the summit cone in the distance, sprawling lava plains, scattered pine forest and the mountain infrastructure of the EtnaSci ski area, all set against the open highland sky of eastern Sicily.
