Du Bois Library Falcon Cam

A Nest Atop a Landmark Tower

The W. E. B. Du Bois Library rises 26 stories above the UMass Amherst campus, making it one of the tallest academic library buildings anywhere. A resident pair of peregrine falcons has claimed a nest box near the roofline, turning the tower into an unlikely cliff-face substitute.

Watching the Breeding Season Unfold

The camera keeps a steady, close-up watch on the nest box, following the falcons through courtship, egg-laying, hatching and the first wobbly flights of the fledglings.

A Campus Conservation Effort

The feed is supported by UMass Amherst departments and library staff, part of a broader effort to document and protect one of the fastest birds on the planet as it adapts to urban nesting sites.

A View Across the Pioneer Valley

Beyond the nest box, the rooftop vantage sweeps across the rolling hills of the Pioneer Valley, giving viewers a sense of the wider landscape the falcons patrol.
