Dalmore Beach, Isle of Lewis
OnlineA sweeping live view over Dalmore Beach, a curved strand of pale sand on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis where Atlantic swells roll in after their long crossing from Canada. Framed by green headlands and machair grassland, the bay is a favorite haunt of surfers chasing its consistent Atlantic breaks. Keep watch over the water and the cliffs above for passing seabirds and, with luck, one of the golden eagles that patrol this wild stretch of the Outer Hebrides.

Atlantic Surf Beach
Dalmore Beach sits on the exposed west coast of the Isle of Lewis, the first landfall for Atlantic swells that have travelled thousands of miles across open ocean. The curving stretch of pale sand and its consistent, powerful breaks have made it one of the most respected surf spots in the Outer Hebrides.
A Hebridean Landscape
Behind the beach, machair grassland and low, green headlands rise toward the crofting township of Carloway. The dramatic interplay of sea, sand, and hill gives Dalmore its reputation as one of Lewis's most photogenic shorelines, with the tide constantly reshaping the exposed sand and rock pools below.
Wildlife of the Outer Hebrides
The cliffs and skies around Dalmore are patrolled by golden eagles and a variety of coastal birds, while the tidal flats reveal a changing world of marine life as the water ebbs and flows. Seals are frequently spotted resting on the rocks at the bay's edges.
Isle of Lewis
Part of the Isle of Lewis, the largest island in the Outer Hebrides, Dalmore lies within a landscape of ancient stone circles, remote crofting communities, and some of Scotland's most unspoiled coastline, drawing surfers, walkers, and wildlife watchers alike.
