A Parish Church in the Heart of Moone
The Church of the Blessed Trinity stands in the centre of Moone, a small village in south County Kildare on the old N9 corridor between Dublin and Carlow. As the ecclesiastical centre of the parish, it has anchored community life here since the mid-nineteenth century.
Architecture and Restoration
Dating to around 1830, the church is a detached, six-bay double-height building raised on a distinctive T-shaped plan. Its austere exterior, with recessed niches for statuary, gives way inside to a graceful ceiling adorned with plaster motifs, a contrast the parish has worked to preserve through recent restoration.
A Village Steeped in Early Christian Heritage
Moone's fame reaches back far earlier than the church itself: the village grew around the ruins of an early monastic site said to have been founded by St. Palladius, home to the celebrated Moone High Cross, one of Ireland's tallest and best-preserved high crosses.
A Live Window Into the Church
This webcam offers a quiet interior view toward the altar and organ gallery, letting visitors around the world share in the atmosphere of one of County Kildare's most cherished parish churches.
