The Nagisa Driveway

Chirihama is home to the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway, one of only a handful of beaches in the world where cars, buses and motorcycles can drive directly on the sand. The fine, salt-water-compacted grains form a surface firm enough to carry traffic along roughly eight kilometres of open shoreline.

Sea of Japan Panorama

The camera faces west across the Sea of Japan, capturing a wide, unobstructed seascape from the Noto Peninsula coast. Gentle waves and a broad tidal flat give the view a calm, expansive character throughout the changing tides.

A Renowned Western Horizon

Facing the open western horizon, this stretch of coast is celebrated as a premier vantage point over the water. The uninterrupted line between sea and sky makes it one of the Noto region's most beloved coastal landscapes.

Hakui and the Noto Coast

The beach lies in the city of Hakui, on the western edge of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. A long-standing destination for day-trippers and travellers, it pairs its distinctive driveable shore with the wider natural scenery of Japan's central-coast region.
