Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Second Life for the Land
This live camera overlooks a former U.S. Army chemical and weapons depot in north-central Oregon that has been reborn as a critical wildlife habitat. The wide shrub-steppe expanse, dotted with repurposed artificial burrows, is the stage for one of the region's most inspiring recovery stories.
The Burrowing Owl
Unlike most owls, the Burrowing Owl lives and nests underground, standing sentinel on long legs at the burrow entrance. The camera captures their ground-level world, from bobbing displays to the comings and goings of adults tending their chicks.
Conservation in Action
Managed by the Owl Research Institute and partners, the site grew from a handful of breeding pairs to a record population, making it a vital research area and training ground for biologists studying the species across the Pacific Northwest.
What You See
The frame takes in the open grassland, gravel burrow mounds and distant horizon of this restored reserve. It is a rare window onto a working conservation landscape and the small raptors that call it home.
