The Railway Corridor

This camera looks east along the BNSF Railway Midway Subdivision, a vital freight artery built on the historic Great Northern mainline. The line threads through St. Paul's Saint Anthony Park area, connecting the 3rd Street district with neighbouring Minneapolis.

Freight Action

Railfans can expect a steady procession of BNSF freight — intermodal stacks, mixed manifests and heavy bulk consists — moving at up to 40 MPH. Unlike other corridors nearby, Amtrak's Empire Builder does not use this line, keeping the traffic distinctly freight-focused.

The Setting

The multiple parallel tracks fan across the frame beneath an elevated highway overpass, framed by green embankments and a wooded ridgeline. Container stacks and a communications tower mark the working industrial Midway district stretching toward the horizon.
