Bernardine Sisters' Convent Chapel

A Cloistered Sanctuary

Tucked in the hamlet of Kończyska, just outside the small town of Zakliczyn nad Dunajcem, this chapel belongs to a contemplative convent of the Bernardine Sisters founded under papal authorization in the late nineteenth century. The community follows a cloistered rule, and the chapel remains its spiritual heart, open to the surrounding faithful through this window onto the sanctuary.

Baroque and Neo-Gothic Details

The carved high altar rises in dark, gilt-trimmed woodwork toward a canopied niche, flanked by statues of saints and a marble Sacred Heart figure. Overhead, an ornate crystal chandelier catches the light streaming through tall arched windows, while side altars and devotional statuary line the whitewashed nave.

A Living Center of Prayer

For decades this chapel has hosted continuous adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, a practice that draws pilgrims and locals from the wider Tarnów region. Fresh floral arrangements before the altar and tabernacle mark the chapel's daily rhythm of prayer.

Southern Poland's Sub-Carpathian Countryside

Zakliczyn nad Dunajcem sits in a landscape of gentle sub-Carpathian hills along the Dunajec River valley, part of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship south of Tarnów. The convent's rural setting lends the chapel an air of seclusion and stillness distinct from the region's larger pilgrimage churches.
