A Storied Sailing Haven

Perched on the banks of the Annisquam River in the Annisquam village of Gloucester, the Annisquam Yacht Club has been a cherished gathering place for sailors since 1896. The camera looks out over its well-protected mooring area, where a crowded fleet of sailboats and powerboats swings gently at anchor.

The Working Waterfront

In the foreground, floating docks and gangways reach into the channel beside the gambrel-roofed clubhouse. Tenders and visiting vessels come and go, while the broad tidal river stretches toward the sandy spit that guards the harbor entrance.

Toward Ipswich Bay

Beyond the moorings, the river widens past low dunes and salt marsh toward the open waters of Ipswich Bay, just south of the historic Annisquam Lighthouse. The ever-changing tides and passing boats make this a captivating window onto a classic New England coastal scene.
